Nevada Humanities presents Dear Vegas, an exhibition curated by Harrison Bernard Nuzzo, a Las Vegas poet, editor, and an instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department of English.

Dear Vegas offers an artistic love letter to the city from artists, poets, and writers who call this community home, including works of poetry, painting, photography, prose, sculpture, and mixed media artworks. Featured artists include: Krista Diamond, Clement Gelly, Ahmed Naji, Harrison Bernard Nuzzo, Devon Norwood, Norma Jean Ortega, Miles Winfree, and Montaysia Yuneek.

The participating artists showcase the people who call Las Vegas home, along with their experiences living, loving, working, and raising families, as well as their relationships with the built environment and natural world of the Las Vegas Valley.

“Dear Vegas shows all sides of Las Vegas told through various artistic mediums. It shines a light on the part of Las Vegas that tourists who just stop at the Strip don’t see or maybe don’t even think about,” said Harrison Nuzzo, exhibition curator. “The exhibition is a letter of sorts about the vast range of experiences – the good, the bad, the ugly – by locals who live and work here, experience pain and loss here, and hold their families close here.”

“Dear Vegas displays an innovative mix of creative works that help tell the unseen stories of Las Vegas,” said Christina Barr, executive director of Nevada Humanities, “These artists and writers share how local Las Vegans experience life in the city. It’s an important story to tell for Nevadans and visitors alike.”

Nevada Humanities will host an exhibition reception and curator’s talk featuring Harrison Nuzzo on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5 – 8 pm with the curator’s talk at 6 pm PT. This event is free and open to the public. Register at nevadahumanities.org/calendar
