Major arts writers grant open

The application period for the Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant is open. The prospectus reads, in part, “Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 in three categories—articles, books, and short-form writing—the grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from short reviews for magazines and newspapers to in-depth scholarly studies.” The deadline is May 15. Guidelines and application here.

National + international opportunities for artists

Creative Capital’s list of opportunities for artists with April and May deadlines was posted in late March highlighting residencies, grants and fellowships from far and wide. Current opportunities include the Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program in North Dakota; the National Academy of Design Abbey Mural Prize; a $25,000 Impact Award for Native American Artists; the Wassaic Project Winter Residency residency and fellowship in Wassaic, New York; and the Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grants for painters, printmakers, and sculptors who’ve encountered unforeseen catastrophes. The list is here.
